This was the view from the four star restaurant where we went for lunch. Okay, okay, we squatted on a mountain ledge, had stale pita, and labane that was probably out in the sun a little bit too long. But it was cheap!!! And the view was fantastic.
Actually, a cute little Bedouin came by and started chatting with us, and he mentioned that we could sleep there in the night. Basically, the site Petra closes down after dark, and most people stay at hotels in the nearby city of Wadi Musa. But some people, with a little bribe or a super nice Bedouin friend, can spend the night in Petra, either sleeping in a cave, or as we could have done, on a mountain ledge. My friends were too wimpy to do that. But I thought it would have been an awesome experience. And cheap!!!
